Lazy S Hunting Club
For the purposes of the rules below, the word "Member" may include all persons covered under a membership. The word "Guest" applies to anyone not covered under the definition of membership.
Harvest Policies
A minimum of 4 points on one side is required on all antlered deer. Members are encouraged to harvest mature bucks with a minimum of 8 points allowing the smaller bucks the opportunity to grow. This does not apply to youth hunters. Our club practices “Quality Deer Management” hunting will improve every year if we work together. No button bucks or yearling spikes should ever be taken.
During doe hunting days members are encouraged to harvest does. The total number of does to be taken will be determined by the club president Jim Smelcer.
Bucks harvested by guests are counted as being killed by the member who invited the guest, and the bucks are included in the total for the membership.
Each individual guest may only kill 1 buck per season.
All deer and turkey harvested must be photographed with the camera provided by the club. Also, each animal harvested must be recorded in the harvest data logbook. These are located in the lock box at the “Pin In” map.
All turkeys harvested should have beards measuring 6” or greater.
Guests
A guest is any person not covered under the definition of membership as written in the Club Constitution.
Each member may have one invited guest during deer season and one invited guest during turkey season. This is included in the membership.
Guest fees after the one included in the membership during deer and turkey season is $100.00 per day. A member may never have more that one guest at a time. Any time a guest carries a gun on the property or accompanies someone carrying a gun, that guest is considered to be hunting.
All hunting guests who are age 14 and older must pay the guest fee. Youth “below “14” will not be required to pay guest fees.
Guest fees must be paid before you leave the club. Fees may be paid to Jim Smelcer or may be put in the lock-box if he is not present. Guests will not be allowed to hunt until the fees are paid in full. Guests must hunt inside of the same grid of the member that they are with several of the grids have more than one stand location
Guests are only allowed after the second weekend of each season. This is fair to all members who have worked hard all year and deserve the best possible hunting experience.
Members must notify the club president “Jim Smelcer” before taking any guest hunting. Failure to do so may be construed as an attempt to avoid paying guest fees.
Hunting
For morning hunts, hunters should be in their stand before daylight and shouldn't leave until after 9:00 a.m. to avoid traveling through an area another member is hunting. For afternoon hunts, hunters should be in your stand by 3:00 p.m. and stay until dark. If a hunter can get to and from their hunting spot without coming within 400 yards of another hunter, this rule doesn't apply. Even if a deer is harvested, the hunter should remain at their hunting spot until after the allotted times for safety reasons.
No alcohol is allowed on the property at any time. No member may enter the property if they have been drinking. This also applies to members who have had too much to drink the night before.
All Georgia Hunting Regulations must be followed at all times.
Anyone under the age of 15 must be with an adult at all times while on the hunting property, even while hunting.
All stands found on the property are open to any member except for one stand per member that may be posted as “private”, and must have the hunters name of the Private sign. Any stand not marked as private are considered Club Stands. The grid location on the map where a private stand is located may be hunted by any member as long as the member does not hunt at the private stand or it’s immediate area. Club planted and maintained food plots are also open to all members. Private food plots may be planted with the permission on the club president Jim Smelcer.
Hunters must pin-in on the property map located at the first gate before hunting. Sign-in guidelines are posted on the map and must be followed. NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LEAVE THE GATE OPEN UNLESS IS IN YOUR SIGHT.
Vehicles
No vehicles except 4-wheelers should be driven on the property during hunting season except at designated camping and parking locations.
Work Days
Each member is encouraged to work at the property during the year. Members are expected to perform their fair share of the work.
Miscellaneous
Any member caught intentionally trying to deceive the club in any manner (unreported deer, guest fees, etc.) will immediately have their membership status subject to review by the club president Jim Smelcer. Jim may decide, at his discretion, to revoke club membership or impose an appropriate fine or penalty.
